This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm whether a person is in custody, obtain an official booking record, arrange a release, post bail, or take action on a case. For any of those needs, use the responsible government office directly.
Official Washington County Contacts
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Jail are located at the Law Enforcement Center, 399 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. Administration is available at 518-746-2475, the jail line is 518-746-2476, and dispatch or non-emergency assistance is 518-747-4623. The anonymous tip line is 518-746-2522 and the listed fax number is 518-746-2385. Call 911 for an emergency. The county policy lists weekday public-record access from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For a written request, the Sheriff is the Records Access Officer for Sheriff and jail records. Start with the County’s official FOIL page or Form Center, then reasonably describe the particular record sought. No separate public booking-photo request form was located. The County policy calls for an initial FOIL action within five working days; if access will take more than 20 days, the agency should give a written reason and a specific reasonable date. Copies up to 9 by 14 inches are listed at $0.25 per page, while other reproduction can be charged at actual cost.
Choose the route that matches the question. An old release is not proof that someone is still in jail, and an arrest allegation is not a conviction.
- For a current Washington County Jail custody question, call the jail at 518-746-2476 rather than relying on an earlier public release.
- For public arrest-release information, begin with the Sheriff’s official Recent Arrests page or its NewsFlash archive.
- For a targeted booking, arrest, or photograph request, use the FOIL route above and identify the person, date, agency, case or booking number if known, and exact record sought.
- For the final outcome of a case, use New York e-Courts and the clerk of the original court. A court disposition, not a Sheriff release, controls the outcome.
- For state-prison custody, use the official New York DOCCS incarcerated-individual finder; it does not replace a county booking record.
- For federal custody, use the Bureau of Prisons locator. For immigration custody, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator under its identity requirements.
